Meet the Artist

Mal here! 👋🏻  I am a Roxboro native and create all of my art in my studio in Rougemont, NC. I fell in love with the art of stained glass after a traumatic divorce in 2023, when I decided on a whim that I wanted to turn my ex’s workshop into a stained glass studio. The only problem was, I had never done any work with glass! I had been down many tik tok rabbit holes about the process, and even created an Amazon wish list for supplies that I sat on for about a year. One day I got the courage to post my intentions for the shop on my Instagram story, and had a few friends reach out asking how they could help. I was encouraged to share my wish list, and to my surprise, my friends and family bought it out! The support from my community was overwhelming, and lit a fire in me to get the shop cleaned up. I started practicing the art of the stained glass and found it to be an extremely fulfilling hobby that helped me heal and gain confidence in myself. Now, I hope to bring the joy of this hobby to my community by teaching stained class classes here in town!

So, what does “Touch Glass” mean?

Throughout the process of finding my passion for stained glass and my artist identity, I am always inspired by taking something broken and making it a beautiful work of art. It has really become a version of therapy for me. And like therapy, making stained glass art requires you to touch those broken and fragile things that you have been told all your life to avoid. Once you pick up the broken pieces and shape them into something new, you can truly move forward and begin to look at them in a new light. ✨
